-- The Combined Law Enforcement Association of Texas
(CLEAT) has recognized State Representative Aaron
Pena for his legislative work in their August issue
of The Texas Police Star. Representative Pena was
chosen from a select group of legislators who stood
with law enforcement officers and their families on
many difficult issues this past legislative session.
A select portion of this group appeared in Texas Monthly
as part of this recognition.
"Our community has always respected the work
that these officers do and I am just doing my part,
making sure that the state gives these men and women
the tools they need to keep our communities safe,"
said Representative Pena.
This past session Pena worked on legislation that
protected victims from drunk drivers in addition to
work he did on dealing with habitual car burglaries.
Pena was also the author of a bill that significantly
impacted the funds available for compensation to victims
of violent crime.
CLEAT is the largest law enforcement association
in Texas. The organization provides legal representation,
political action, field service representation for
bargaining and negotiating support and a range of
related services to over 15,000 members statewide.
Representative Pena plays a significant role in the
passage of criminal law as the Chairman of Budget
and Oversight of the House Committee on Criminal Jurisprudence.
