Future Technology Committee Hearings

Posted on February 21, 2012

We had a successful hearing this morning regarding Interim Charges 2 and 3. A lot of good and informative testimony on the current challenges facing the state and the next generation of technology coming available to the state, if we can afford it.

We are moving to Interim Charges 1,4 and 5 next and will more than likely hold hearings in late April and late March.

A small aside of note, at least for my children, I used the short and fat palm gavel, affectionately called "Fat Tuesday" to open and close today's hearing. Today is the day called "Fat Tuesday" or the day before the start of Lent and thus the name for the small gavel I will eventually gift to one of my children.

As you may or may not know, I collect gavels. Previously I've mentioned the four foot gavel, appropriately named "The Little Giant." There were also gavels named "Big Tex," "The Ivory Princess," "The Mexican Mesquite Mallet" and "The Treaty Oak Gavel".

My daughter, Alyssa Pena, served as the assistant committee clerk for today's hearing and thus is the rightful heir to Mr. Fat Tuesday.
